Rules depend on your passport. Always confirm on the official Malaysian government site before you book.

Official Malaysia eVisa site

Usually visa-free for short visits

Many Commonwealth, ASEAN, European and some African passports (for example South Africa, Kenya, Botswana, Namibia, Morocco, Tunisia) can enter without a visa for a short stay. Most travellers must complete the free Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) within three days before arrival.

Usually need an eVisa

Many passports, including Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and China, apply online for an eVisa. Allow at least four weeks.
